Monday Deadline Set By Pacquiao Camp For Mayweather Fight

via The Inquisitr by AHN on 12/29/09

United States (AHN) – A Monday deadline has been set to get the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight set.

The parties are still at an impasse on a blood-testing issue.

Manny Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum is giving the Floyd Mayweather Jr’s camp the mandate.

Mayweather Jr’s camp wanted Pacquiao to submit to Olympic style blood testing leading up to the fight.

Arum says Pacquiao will submit to unlimited urine tests, while only agreeing to blood tests no later than 30 days before the fight.

Arum also proposed a January 19 hearing before the Nevada Athletic Commission to decide if the super fight between the two welterweights really needs additional blood testing.

“This is unprecedented,” Arum said. “Our expert says blood tests are ridiculous. But we will let the commission decide. They are the governing body.”

Arum says is a deal isn’t struck with Mayweather, he’ll make a deal for Pacquiao to face former junior welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao is a five-weight world champion and Mayweather Jr. just returned to boxing in September following a 21-month retirement.
